goal of an art

According to Shastras - Natyashastra which is the base of all the Fine arts, dance and music - Bharata the author says if you exercise this art sincerely you will attain Dharma(vitrue), Artha(wealth), Kama(pleasure and Mksha(spiritual freedom). Is there any parallel view anywhere in the world about goal of the Arts?

  1. Yesterday I was watching one of the interviews of Pandit Birju Maharaj ji and he was saying that ...
if you do your Riyaz sincerely there is no need for any Pooja Paatth. The aim of these Classical Arts is to give Moksha. There are examples of several life long practitioners believe and have experienced something similar.

Pandita Rohini Bhate - a similar thought in her poetry,

Dance is not a mere pleasure or a physical activity, it creates a sense of elation. What is it? if not a prayer? ........

  2. It looks like - In the journey of dance - it begins as a physical activity, then gradually the interest deepens and one gets into discipline, rigorous practice requiring
sacrifices of many other things in life, for the quest of one chosen thing and eventually there may be a liberation. .....
